FAQs

Q. Do you have a storefront?
A. Currently, we do not have a storefront and are present at the Halifax Brewery farmer's market only.
Q. Where is your bakery located?
A. We operate a micro-bakery in Prospect area.
Please note that our bakery is not a commercial kitchen, nor it is an inspected area. However, our baker is certified by Nova Scotia Food Safety Programme and operates in accordance with local food safety standards.
Q. Do you make a gluten-free bread?
A. All our products contain gluten. However, slow fermentation helps to break down gluten to its minimum levels. Sourdough is a real ancient naturally fermented bread with the lowest gluten level.
Q. How can I place an order?
A. Simply navigate to our WHAT WE BAKE page, choose the items and quantities you would like to order, and send us a request through the Contact Us form.

Q. Where can I pick up my order?
A. From Halifax Brewery Market, upper courtyard every Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM. Please check our social media for the most up-to-date market schedule.

Q. Do I need to pay for my order in advance?
A. You will need to do a pre-payment if you want to guarantee your order. You will be sent an email address to send an Interac e-transfer. Otherwise, it is a first-come, first-served option at the market.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. To make a pre-payment, you can send us an Interac e-transfer. We accept cards (Debit, Visa, Mastercard), cash, and market money (available only at Halifax Brewery Market).

Q. Do you offer other products or only what is listed on your website?
A. We offer new items from time to time, depending on the season or national holidays. We can also take special orders for other sourdough or non-sourdough products. Note that we need at least a week notice for special orders, as sourdough is a time-consuming process. Please contact us for further details.

Q. Are all the items listed on your website available at the market?
A. Most bread options are available every week. However, our menu varies for specialty bread and pastry. Please check our social media for the most up-to-date weekly menu.

Q. How to store sourdough bread?
A. Sourdough bread is made with natural and organic ingredients. It has no preservatives and is meant to be enjoyed fresh. It will stay fresh for 2-3 days at room temperature. However, this time can be reduced to 1-2 days in summertime due to higher temperatures. Store your bread in a paper bag, bee-waxed cotton or linen bag, or bread box.
